It will be a full moon in Virgo. This year, since March’s full Moon occurs before the spring equinox, it may be more accurate to refer to it as the Lenten Moon exclusively, however, I find “Worm Moon” to be more catchy. Time to clear away any symbols of the winter solstice and renew and recharge our altars with some symbols of the upcoming spring: snakes, butterflies, pastel/colorful flowers, rabbits/hares, or even garden tools! Your new altar should feel like both Spring and Easter have exploded onto its surface, welcoming energies emphasizing optimism, release, rebirth, and growth. Include artwork and items that are special to you, like pastel-colored crystals, flowers, and also feathers- whatever it takes for you to have a fulfilling ritual experience!
Another commonly practiced ritual involves lighting candles in honor of each element - Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit - which symbolize how these five interconnected elements form one complete unit. Of course, if this isn’t possible, you don’t have to wait until the middle of the night to see the Worm Moon! Look for the bright moon as it rises on Monday evening (should be visible then)! If the weather is poor (raining) on either or both nights, you may have the opportunity to witness a phenomenon called a moonbow. A moonbow is pretty much what it sounds like and is like a rainbow but created by moonlight instead of sunlight. Moonbows usually only happen when the full Moon is fairly low, so consider searching for one shortly after sunset just when the sky is getting dark.
